All-New 2018 Harley-Davidson® Sport Glide®
All-new from Harley-Davidson is the Sport Glide, a custom cruiser that’s already making waves for its incredible versatility. This custom cruiser is based on the Softail line, so you can expect head-turning design with a touch of classic features. But it’s also equipped for light touring, making it the ideal bike for weekend trips or even commuting to work. The combination of power, handling, and utility makes the Sport Glide something truly unique and fun from America’s most iconic motorcycle manufacturer.
Sport Glide models are ready to be taken for a test ride today, so stop by Illinois Harley-Davidson today. Our Countryside, IL location proudly serves the areas near Chicago. We know you’ll be as excited about the Sport Glide as we are!
Redesigned Softail Frame
As a member of the Softail family, the Sport Glide uses the unique hidden rear monoshock technology that made that line famous. But this isn’t just new decoration for an old bike. Harley-Davidson totally redesigned the Softail frame for the 2018 model year and the result was a frame that’s a full 34% stiffer than the original and significantly lighter as well. Veteran riders will immediately understand that those improvements translate into pinpoint handling that’s perfect for attacking hard corners with confidence. That classic suspension system got an overhaul as well. The hidden rear monoshock system now has 450 lbs of preload adjustment that can be dialed into your preference without needing tools. The Showa SDBV front forks offer 130mm of travel thanks to their racing-style, linear-damping cartridge fork design.
Milwaukee-Eight Engine
The Milwaukee-Eight 107 engine that powers the Sport Glide is a modern engineering marvel. While the Milwaukee-Eight line was originally released for the 2017 model year, this is the first time it’s seen use in the Softail line and the results are pretty incredible. This new engine comes with 110 ft-lbs of torque, which translates into a 10% faster 0-60 mph acceleration and 16% faster 60-80 mph acceleration. The Milwaukee-Eight is also slimmer and specially sculpted to fit into the Softail frame. This allows for a slimmer profile and a lower center of gravity, which once again, translates to better handling. Because it’s rigid mounted and counterbalanced, the Milwaukee-Eight 107 engine also offers reduced vibration, which is really noticeable on long trips.
Touring Ready
The Sport Glide is equipped for light touring, but that doesn’t mean it looks anything like the big, old-school touring bikes of yesteryear. The Sport Glide is athletic, agile, and fun to ride, but thanks to mini-fairing up front and a low-vibration engine, you can ride longer with less fatigue. In the rear, you’ll find locking hard sided saddlebags for added cargo room which is supported by the beefy rear suspension. When you don’t want the added weight or gear, the mini-fairing and saddlebags are both easily detachable, leaving you with an awesome custom cruiser that looks as good parked as it does flying through traffic.
Style and Innovation
The Sport Glide is a real Harley-Davidson motorcycle in that it offers the best of both aggressive styling and modern motorcycle innovation. Everywhere you look on this bike, you’ll find performance features that push the boundary, from the engine, to the suspension, to the LED forward-lighting system and keyless ignition. But you’ll also get a custom cruiser with a real attitude problem. Just look at the blacked out exhaust pipes, or the blacked out engine, or the blacked out Mantis cast aluminum wheels. This is one unforgettable ride, in more ways than one.
